The School Uniform/Coat Exchange Program is a service that the Schuylkill YMCA offers to all of our members. Using the uniform/coat exchange is a great way to clothe your child in a previously worn uniform attire/coat at no cost. Here is a brief overview of how the program is set up to function:
1. Gently used uniforms and coats are turned into the Y
2. All pieces are inspected, inventoried, and cataloged
3. Members come into the Y and may pick out 3 items (per child) per month
4. You do not need to be a member to get a winter coat
It is not necessary to have an exchange in order to use the Uniform/Coat Exchange. Donations of gently used uniforms are what keep this program running.
To serve our area, we are following the Minersville School dress code for our donations. This provides uniforms for use at most of the schools in Schuylkill County.
Accepted items:
Pants: khaki, navy, black, gray or corduroy full length or capris
Shorts/Skirts/Jumpers: khaki, navy, black, gray or corduroy
Shirts: solid colored polo
Jackets: Winter Jackets (Not accepting light weight or rain at this time)
The Uniform/Coat Exchange operates on a first come/first serve basis. This is a new program; we may have to limit the items taken depending on donations.
